Frequently Asked Questions
Is this training virtual, and will I get access to a recording?
Yes. Sessions are live online, so you can ask questions in real time instead of guessing at what a video meant. Can’t make a session? Recordings are yours to keep, so nothing gets missed.
What does the program include?
8+ hours of live training across 4 core sessions, real supporting videos and resources you’ll use again later, and one-on-one mentorship with Trevor in a group setting, so if something’s not clicking, you can ask directly instead of staying stuck
Who is this program designed for?
This is built for technicians and apprentices building CO₂ confidence, technicians transitioning into commercial refrigeration, and anyone who wants a real foundation instead of piecing it together on the job. If you manage a team, this also works as a way to bring every technician up to the same CO₂ standard instead of relying on the one person who happens to know it. (Ask about group enrollment above.)
What are the main topics covered in the course?
The program is structured into four core modules:
1. Fundamentals of CO₂ Refrigeration & Safety: Key terms, refrigeration principles, and safe handling procedures
2. CO₂ System Components & Design: Components, system types, and design considerations
3. Introduction to CO₂ Controls & Electrical: Wiring diagrams, controllers, and common troubleshooting
4. Service & Maintenance Procedures: Routine maintenance, CO₂ charging procedures, and real-world service call guidance
Do I get a certificate of completion?
Yes. Complete all sessions, quizzes, and the final assessment, and you’ll walk away with a Certificate of Completion from Refrigeration Mentor, proof you can put in front of your employer or bring to your next job.
Does this training replace an HVAC license or formal certification?
No. This is professional development training only. It’s meant to boost your skills and confidence but does not replace local licensing or certification requirements.
Do I need experience before taking this course?
This program is built for people with a refrigeration or supermarket background who want to build CO₂-specific knowledge. If you’re brand new to refrigeration entirely, we’d recommend starting with foundational refrigeration training first.
How is this different from your other CO₂ courses (Field Troubleshooting, Understanding CO₂ Controls)?
Introduction to CO₂ is the full foundation, covering fundamentals, components, controls, and service procedures across 4 sessions. CO₂ Field Troubleshooting and Understanding CO₂ Controls are shorter, focused courses for specific field skills. Many technicians start here, then go deeper with those
Is CO₂ dangerous to work with, and does this cover safety?
Yes, CO₂ systems operate at higher pressures than traditional refrigerants, and safety is covered directly in Module 1 before we get into anything hands-on.
